please view my post reguarding holla and mea i am arranging a run at the end of the month thx
Sorry
Im sorry I haven't gotten back to post on schedueling a day to lead this event. Lately my work Scheduel has been fluxuating alot. Some Fridays I have been working during the day, and others I have been closing, which is 9 o'clock EST. Starting a run at 9:30 at the earliest would make this run into the following morning, even with one run, it would be late into the night. This makes it hard to make an exact day and time to set this up.
Farming for Anima
You actually farm for Recollections, then Harith in Jeuno turns the Recollections into Anima. If someone WANTS a Promyvion Spire Boss but does NOT have Three Anima on them when the party prepares to leave then they are short-changing the team. To put it not too delicately, "I want you to help me out with Spire Bosses but I myself am not willing to do any work."
The reason I say this is ANY two jobs can farm for Recollections in the level 30 cap Promyvion Crags. The best farming is Weepers and Wanderers in Promyvion Holla, maybe switch to a different Crag if you want Recollection of Guilt. WHM and WHM combo parties even work =^_^=
Malkier, if you are down to just a few folks missing Spire Bosses you need to find a time during the week when those few folks can all participate then publish that time here asking for additional help. The reason I say this is the Clan has been up against Spire Boss Fights maybe sixteen times so I think you will discover you are down to those few who have odd hours of availability.
The hardest Clan members to get through FFXI are those with odd hours of play and who do not access a PC to read this site; these folks are really just signing onto their Playstation for a few hours of a game they like to treat like a console game - I am really unsure of how to help these players since their approach to gaming is at odds with the basic design of FFXI.
Ahem :-)
I am a Playstation FFXI player... and I tend to treat it like a console game :-)
It's not a "console vs. PC-gamer" thing.. it's that certain things in FFXI (e.g., the CoP missions) are not designed for the casual gamer. Casual gamer does not equal console gamer :-)

LOL!
PC gamers have a PC at their fingertips so most PC gamers are well versed in doing research on the Internet on their favorite games.
Most console gamers come in, sit down, play for a bit. Are you sure you are not an inaccurate reflection of the typical console gamer? After all, you do teach software classes and run a web site =^_^=
A lot of console gamers are casual gamers; perhaps even the majority of FFXI console gamers. However I know a Playstation player with three level 75 jobs so he is obviously not a casual player.
"Casual Gamer does not equal Console Gamer" this is true (see preceeding sentence). However WITHIN THE CLAN when I mention "why don't you look it up on the Clan Web Site?" the phrase often tossed back at me is: "I play on a Playstation". So maybe the accurate description is: "most casual gamers within the Clan are Playstation players."
Like this fact, dislike this fact, it does not matter. Maior is not online all the time and Cyclonus and Tamara do suggest to Clan members that the FAQuestions they are asking right now, at the moment, have lots of matching answers out on the Clan Web Site. Some folks decline to look here; most of the time because they are on a Playstation.
My view of an FFXI player is that if they decline to look things up regarding FFXI on the web then they are "a casual FFXI player". The Playstation Player I know with the three level 75 jobs looks up FFXI stuff on his school's computers.
PC vs Console Gamers
I have to be completely honest, the whole line of reasoning here really insanely aggravates me. Aggravates me to the point of wanting to put my fist through a wall.
I know that I am not a stereotypical console gamer, but for completely different reasons than you list here. I am not a stereotypical console gamer because I am an obscene collector. I've been collecting since I was 4 years old, and in the year 2000 (the last time I counted my collection) I had more than 4000 games spread over 37 consoles. The average console gamer purchases a total of 7 games for the lifetime of their console, thus, I am not stereotypical by any stretch of the imagination.
However, implying that console gamers are some sort of troglodyte that does little more than boot up a console and never a computer is not only insulting it is erroneous.
The simple fact is console games account for nearly 90% the gaming market. The PC gaming market is miniscule in comparison to the console gaming market. This is primarily because to play PC games you as the consumer have to foot the bill for your hardware, whereas console gamers get out of that by virtue of the hardware manufacturers eating the cost of the machine (in case you don't know, all gaming consoles are brought to market at a loss, and money is made back through game sales if and only if the console is successful enough. For example, the XBox debuted for around $350, but cost Microsoft around $800-900 per machine to build.)
Additionally, the vast majority of the really long and involved titles are available generally for console only (really big hits may come to PC only as an after thought as porting them is usually too costly to warrant considering the small size of the PC gaming market). The Final Fantasy games are a rather apt example seeing as how this site is related to a Final Fantasy game.
The simple fact is, no matter what you think the ratio of PC FFXI gamers to PS2 FFXI gamers is, PC gamers have always been and will be for the forseeable future a very small minority in the gaming market.
And yet inspite of the fact that PC gamers are a minority, the online gaming sites are huge. Sites like GameFaqs are ruled by console gamers coming to them, submitting and searching FAQs, and chatting in Forums. Gaming news sites like 1UP base almost exclusively their content on the console arena. All of this indicates that console gamers most likely dominate the online viewers to these sites. That certainly doesn't seem like people that hardly ever get online to me.
Thus, whenever you hear someone use "I play on Playstation" to explain why they don't get on the site, then you can bet they are just using that as an excuse to be lazy. What they are really saying is "I don't want to write down that URL, and I don't want to research. I just want everything handed to me on a silver platter."
The simple fact is the vast majority of people playing FFXI do not research! This is regardless of whether they play on PC or on the Console. They want to traipse along leeching off others, letting others lead things up that they just "tag long" to. They want to not run around Promy Holla for 3 hours to get a couple of Anima, they want to not spend hours farming in the Temple of Ugglapih to get the four Tonberry Lanterns they need for ZM4. They just want to show up and have other people supply these things.
This is not a console gamer thing, this is not a PC gamer thing, this is a casual gamer thing.
Now, I'm sorry if I get a little animated talking about this, it's just that gaming is something I know a hell of a lot about. I've studied not only games, but gamers and the gaming industry in general. I've written historical analysises of the industry as well as articles on gamers. And the entire PC vs Console gamer argument is an issue I'm sensitive to simply because the vast majority of people who argue it (from both sides of the fence) really don't understand it.

I am almost positive that my
I am almost positive that my Playstation 2 Instruction Manual (yes, I own a Playstation 2) warns me that "too much game playing will cause troglodytism".
Yes, here it is, on the inside cover with the other WARNINGS
Seems the only sure-fire cure is to play my PS2 while taking a bath!
ROFL =^_^=
Lemme know when or if
I am definately up for this i need DEM and Mea but will help on any that PPl need to get done just make sure i have plenty of notice the time diff between US and UK needs preparing for....
Leading an event...
I have no problem in joining your group. However, I, like Maior, will not lead an event.
Although in our previous run we succeeded without any problems, I find it cumbersome to schedule an event and to start very late. This cuts into playing time and more importantly, requires a majority of the folks that do show up on time to sit on their hands.
If you can plan a day (preferably weekend afternoons), I will be more than happy to assist, provided of course that we start reasonably on time…
Why I wont lead it
Just wanted to specify why I wont personally be leading up any more Promy events...
For around 2 to 3 months I was leading up semi-weekly Promy events. What I found was that a) people didn't show on time (which is what Cyc was talking about) b) people did not show up prepared (they hadn't farmed the anima before hand) c) people did not understand the other things to do in Promy (for example, I think it is a waste to go into Promy just to attempt the boss... if you don't do an ENM you've wasted a trip).
Long story short, it was entirely too frustrating and I don't want to do it again.
That being said, I highly encourage others who need the Promies to lead up events of their own. There's plenty of people who will both help out and still need them. You will undoubtedly find support for it. Just don't expect it to work as a regular recurring event without significant frustration.

Pick a day and head it up
All of the guides are still online for people. If you can pick a day that works with everyone else, you could easily lead them up. If someone picks a day, I'll post it on the 2 week calendar.
I personally wont be hosting any more LS Promy events (as I said several months ago) but there is absolutely nothing stopping someone else from doing it.
All that you need for any of the Promies is to have a group of 6 people who have both Hysteroanima and Psychoanima. Time your throws properly and you can shut down all attacks from the bosses for 3 minutes or so, which is more than enough time to kill them.
It really is trivial to do, and the bosses themselves are kind of a push over.
The guides on Promy can be found in our Big Book List, but you can also get to the strategy one directly by clicking here.

Hosting CoP Events
I host CoP Events on even-calendar Mondays.
The next two Mondays were VOTED on by others, not I. There were three instantaneous (almost) votes for a Mammet Fight and so the next even-calendar Monday is Drake Scale farming, the Monday after that is a series of Mammet Fights.
Just like Maior has mentioned in this thread (regarding being prepared) - the Mammet fights will happen if folks do some preparation. A fight might be cancelled if the party does not come prepared. A lot of FFXI Events are successful if proper prior prepartion has been accomplished.
I was in a losing fight last night, amusing but not upsetting, the party was not prepared to win and so we lost; that is how FFXI functions =^_^=
In any case I am posting this to your thread to say I am not adverse to folks voting for a FUTURE even-calendar Monday to be one or two Spire Boss Fights. Cyclonus mentions a very real problem - you start off saying "the night will be a two spire event" and by the time everyone manages to show up the east-coast denizens will only be able to contribute to one spire.
Event guide?
I'm begining to wonder if an Event Guide (e.g., something that teaches people how to a) setup, b) prepare for, c) organize and d) lead events in abstract) would be helpful?
I've been getting a lot of people interested in leading up events lately, but invariably people wind up not knowing where to begin.
